“We cannot do great things on this Earth, only small things with great love.”
– Mother Teresa
The “Empty Bowls Project” is an international grassroots effort to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger. The mission is to create positive and lasting change through the arts, education, and projects that build community.
In 2012, some local residents saw the need to battle hunger and increase awareness right here on the north coast of Ohio. Empty Bowls by the Lake was formed and draws its support from communities as far east as Ohio City, as far west as Put-in-Bay, and as far south as Cuyahoga Falls. In 2018, we were able to donate over $17,000 to local organizations directly feeding the hungry, including Second Harvest Food Bank, LCCC’s Commodore Cupboard, and Avon/Avon Lake’s Community Resource Services (CRS). The leftover soup is given to Grace’s Kitchen in Vermilion.
